ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Christopher Grey is an author of fiction focusing on conspiracy theories, secret societies and the occult. His special brand of storytelling dives into conspiracies and the occult from the point of view of the secret societies, attempting to dispel popular mistruths and paranoia prevalent in the mainstream.
Grey’s fascination with the secret world began when he was sixteen after a chance meeting with a conspiracy theorist in a coffee shop sometime in the 1990s. The conversation with this man led Grey on a lifelong scholarly endeavor to learn about secret societies and the occult from a skeptical and secular point of view.
Over the past 15 years, he has been involved in various fraternal societies and has sought to explore the undercurrents of human civilization–to uncover the hidden histories and the forces and patterns that have designed what society has become and to demystify the hidden forces in our society that, for so long, have been vilified and misunderstood.

Review:

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was crazy! I don't even know where to begin really. I'll start out by making it abundantly clear this book was AMAZING. It's so unlike what I normally read and I was a little hesitant going into it not really knowing what to expect, but within the first couple of pages I knew I was in for a wild ride. I was seriously hooked from the get go and could NOT put this book down until the end. It was suspenseful, exciting, and riveting.

Will Shakespeare is a soldier for the top secret order of the Knights Templar. In 1947 he is the lone survivor of his entire order when they are murdered by a crazed group of the Vatican. He has been ordered to help his associate, Dorothy, back to her home in Bermuda and he must track down and protect an incredibly important and top secret treasure before it is destroyed in a hurricane. The two end up on a crazy adventure together uncovering deeply buried secrets of the Knights Templar. They must also go through many trials, tests, and tribulations in order to track down their treasure.

Christopher Grey has created an incredibly intricate story that unravels perfectly. He manages to give just enough information to keep you hooked and yet it is still impossible to guess not just the ending, but what's going to happen on the next page. The story is so meaty and full of depth, but also eloquent and beautifully told. Grey has a rare gift of telling a complicated and complex story that isn't weighed down or too much to take in at once. Sometimes when I read a story with an extremely complex plot it almost begins to feel like work just getting through it, but this complex story was a joy to read.

I also love that Grey manages to tie in actual historical events into the novel without trying to change or ruin the history. The characters are perfectly written and as the story goes on they have more and more depth to them. This isn't a book that throws a bunch of facts and information about the plot or characters at you right at the get go, but rather ties the plot, the information you need, and the characters' stories in throughout the story. The book is perfectly paced. Pacing is something I write about a lot because for me it can really make or break a book, but Grey nailed the pacing in this novel.

This story was so unique and engrossing. I cannot think of one thing bad to say about it which is amazing considering it isn't the type of book I would necessarily pick up on my own to read. I'm so glad I did read it though. The plot is like a perfectly woven tapestry and the characters, history, and secrets are all the threads of that tapestry. I know that's a pretty cheesy analogy, but every time I try to think of how to explain this book the words tapestry and woven keep coming to mind. This book gets a solid 5 out of 5 stars from me. I cannot recommend it enough. Even if this isn't a genre you'd typically read I highly suggest giving it a go. This book has something in it for everyone, and the perfectly crafted story and characters, and eloquent writing really make it impossible not to fall in love with.
